Our deer hunts are Monday to Saturday in heated ground blinds, stands, on foot or from vehicles. All proven hunting methods for our area and have produced some great whitetails over the years.

We have a strong population of whitetails and the quality is first-class, best in the world some would say. The area consists of boreal bush country consisting of cutlines, fresh log cuts, with some agriculture land being targeted. Majority of the whitetail deer hunting is on crown land with some taken place on private land.

Big-bodied deer with heavy mass and chocolate horns are a couple of the defining traits of a mature Alberta buck. But don’t let that deter you from passing on a big, mature lighter horned buck as horn color can be attributed to the types of trees the deer are rubbing their horns on.

DEER HUNTING FAQ

What type of caliber rifle should I bring? We like to see clients with a .30 caliber rifle or larger. We have very large whitetail deer in our area, this would be our recommendation. Although, please go with what you're most comfortable with, too.

Where is the closest airport to the deer hunting lodge? Edmonton international airport (YEG).

Do I need to fill anything out to deer hunt in Alberta? You can apply online for the Alberta "Wildlife identification number" WIN, which is required for purchasing a license in Alberta.  See those links below.

Do we offer lodging? Yes all of our whitetail deer hunts are based out of our Canadian hunting lodge.  The lodge is a brand new facility located in just west of Slave lake, Alberta. We consider this the home base for our deer hunts, we may be hunting close to there or in our remote areas as well.

What type of areas do you target for deer? We are generally hunting bush country like cut lines, log cuts, anywhere that we have enough visibility and has deer activity. We do also target agriculture areas. One isn’t necessarily better than the other it’s based on our experience in the area and the landscape they prosper in.

How big are the bodies? We produce some very big bodied whitetails. Some north of 300lbs. We have found that this can have an effect on antler judgement as the bigger bodied bucks can make their horns “look” smaller than they actually are.

Do big bucks only have dark horns? No, that is not always the case. It comes down to the area that the deer is in and what they are rubbing their horns on. If they are rubbing on aspens/poplars vs spruce trees, they will be lighter in color vs dark.

What is the average shot distance? Distance can vary based on the blind location and what type of location/terrain we are in but it could be anywhere from 100 yards to 300 yards.
